PRIMANTI MONTESSORI SCHOOL

About Us

Primanti Montessori School was established in 1965 by Hank and Millie Primanti. The school is now a prominent and well respected Montessori that has been serving the community for over 50 years. The school was a pioneering Montessori school and became well renowned. It was a legend. Its unique architecture is modeled after a Montessori school in Holland. It was the first school to build mirror rooms (observation rooms) in California which are still rare today. (Parents use rooms to observe their children without being seen).

Between 1965 and 1975 Mario Montessori (the son of Dr. Maria Montessori) along with his son Mario Jr. visited the Primanti Montessori School when the facility was first established and at least 10 more times thereafter. Dr. Maria Montessori made sure that when a new Montessori school was established she herself or her son and grandson would make a site visit to make sure the school and curriculum was up to Montessori standards.

In 1975 we added the Elementary department serving 1st to 6th grade. Upon request of parents in 1998 Primanti Montessori School opened Middle School serving 7th & 8th grade.

In 2003 we extended our Summer school program to 11 weeks, offering swimming lessons, Tae Kwon Do, art, music, dance, gymnastics, Spanish, and computer classes.

In 2008 Primanti Montessori School of Whittier opened its doors to international students by becoming a certified school that can issue an I-20 student visa and went through a rigorous program evaluation and site visit by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement.

In 2011 we opened a Toddler program for children ages 18 months to 2 ½ years old and in 2012 we started offering Infant Care for children 6 weeks to 18 months old.

Our Goal

Our primary aim is to assist in the total development of a child’s personality (social, emotional, intellectual, and physical), so the child will be better prepared to adapt to life and to succeed to the changing conditions of his environment.
